Super Bowl of Advertising

Every year when the Super Bowl comes around, everyone waits in anticipation for the commercials.  Sure, it's exciting!

This may be due to my copious hours of Olympics coverage viewing, but I think the Olympics are the new Super Bowl of Advertising.

Without a doubt my favorite commercials are the VISA commercials.  You know the ones I'm talking about.  Morgan Freeman's soft voiceover comes on telling an inspirational story about an Olympic athlete, and everything they overcame to reach their dreams.  I may sound blase about this, but seriously, these are my favorite commercials on TV!
The newest one I've seen, which goes with one of my favorite Olympic stories (and of course movies) is here:

And, of course I have to stick to my roots...nothing can top this commercial by ESPN for College Football Rivalry week:

Confession....

Okay, Confession:
I always go on and on about College Football being my favorite sport and the only sport I watch. Well, that's not entirely true.

I.
LOVE.
THE.
OLYMPICS.

There's just something about watching thousands of athletes from all over the globe coming together in one place to compete against each other in the name of their country. It's inspiring.

It's hard to say what my favorite thing about the Olympics are - I mean, how could I name just one thing?
The Opening Ceremonies
The National Anthem
Swimming
The Olympic torch relay
"Do you believe in Miracles?"
The Olympic Village
Medal Ceremonies
Watching the athletes warm up for competition
Speed Skating
Moguls
Track and Field relays
Beach Volleyball
Figure Skating
"You can do it, Kerri!"
the athletes families

I could go on and on.......
Turn on the TV, watch some Olympics and quietly chant, "USA...USA....USA" You know you want to!

Match Game

I've always loved a good game of "Match Game." You know...where you flip over a card with a monkey and try and hope that you'll randomly choose a blank card with a monkey and get to keep the pair.

At the end of the season, College Football Coaching turned into a solid game of Match Game. In case you didn't keep up (let's be honest...it was hard for me too) here's a little game of matching for you:

Urban Meyer sort of decided to leave as Head Coach at Florida - Match this up with Steve Addazio sort of taking over as Head Coach at Florida

Pete Carol left USC for the dollar signs in coaching in the NFL - Match this up with Lane Kiffin leaving his program at Tennessee to take over at USC

Charlie Weis got the ax at Notre Dame - Match this up with Brian Kelly leaving Cincinnatti to coach the struggling Fighting Irish program

Tommy Tuberville is leaving Auburn to coach at Texas Tech - Match this up with Mike Leach getting fired at Texas Tech for mistreating one of his players (yikes)

Bobby Bowden retired as the winningest coach in college football at Florida State - Match this up with Jimbo Fisher moving into the head coaching role at FSU

And finally...
All Hokies shed a small tear when Al Groh was asked to leave as head coach at UVA the day after Virginia Tech beat them for the 8th time in 9 tries - Match this up with beloved U of R coach, Mike London, leaving River City for Charlottesville and the Hoos in Hooville

Where am I?

So, it turns out I'm not as good at blogging as I thought I'd be. Yes, it has been 3 full months since my last post which means I made no smarty-pants comments throughout all of the conference championship games (Tebow crying...), the Heisman trophy ceremony (How adorrrrable is Mark Ingram?), or the BSC championship games. What kind of college football fan am I?!?

A busy one. The Martin Agency just won Advertising Agency of the Year, apparently my career took over my life!!

In the excitement of the Super Bowl today I realized how much I missed good ole Heisman girl so I'm going to keep you all entertained for the next 7 months until the kick off of the REAL football season.

In true Heisman girl fashion, I'm focusing my attention on tonight's Super Bowl on the battle of the E! Reality stars. Reggie Bush's girlfriend, Kim Kardashian vs. Hank what's-his-last-name's wife, Kendra. (Well that, AND the commercials. Come on, I work in Advertising!)

......Let's go Saints!
